Our little Cubbie

Samuel is so excited to be a Cubbie in the Awana program at our church. Bill & I are his teachers & are loving this age group. They are so fun! Samuel just recently earned his Cubbies vest. 🙂 He was so proud & we are too! We hope & pray that Samuel grows up & does mighty things for the Lord! We want to steer him in the right direction & Awana definitely helps.  We are thankful for our church that helps us teach our son.

Chef Samuel at preschool

The second week of preschool Samuel’s class made sugar cookies! They made them from scratch & were making them for some very special people. They were making them for grandparents day!! I wasn’t able to be there on grandparents day, but he had several of his grandparents come (not everyone could due to work) & a great grandmother too!

We started off by making chef hats. 🙂 They were all so adorable in their hats! Then they each took a turn pouring ingredients into the big bowl. They each had a chance to use the mixer & mix everything together. Then they were given their own cookie dough & they baked while we played outside. After the cookies cooled off they decorated their cookies with icing & sprinkles. I believe they all had a lot of fun! I know Samuel loves hands on activities & he loves helping me cook, so he loved this activity. Thank you Mrs. Madison for making preschool so fun!

September 3rd was Samuel’s first day of preschool for this new year! There are only 6 kids in his class, so it is small. I think this is good for him. His teacher is Ms. Madison. Samuel loves her & we do too! She does a lot of sensory projects with the kids & Samuel really likes that. I am thankful that I was able to take him to his first day of preschool. I’m also so excited to help Ms. Madison this year with special projects! The days that I’m off work & she needs help in the classroom, I will help her out. 🙂 I truly am so excited to do this! I love being a mom!

Summer school

What has Samuel been up to this summer? This summer has been flying by! We have enjoyed a lot of time together. We continued reviewing our letters & numbers this summer. He will start preschool in September for 2 mornings per week. He is excited about starting back & has been asking about his friends. We have also utilized the freebies around us. The local movie theater shows free kids movies on Tuesdays & Wednesdays. We have been several times & he really enjoyed that. We also went to our local library & joined the summer reading program. It was 6 weeks long & we probably went to about half of them. They would sing songs, read books, & also did a craft each time. Samuel really loves crafts. I think that’s why he enjoyed reviewing his letters.

I got a few pictures of some of the preschool things we did this summer.

This face

3 years ago we saw this sweet face for the first time:

sam samuel

We were told not to fall in love immediately & that we needed to have his file reviewed by a doctor before making a decision. We did have his file reviewed, but in our hearts we knew that this was our son. No matter what we have done whatever it took to get him home & would have cared for whatever needs we faced. He’s perfect. He’s our son!

(I have several posts to catch up on, but wanted to post this one on time 🙂 )

3 years ago today we received our referral for Samuel!!! I remember the day like it just happened. I actually still have the voice mail from our agency saved. I love listening to it from time to time. 🙂 We missed our referral call! My cell phone had died on the way home from work so when I got home, Bill came running out of the house! He said we missed a phone call from our agency & he had been trying to reach me. I remember that when we called back, they were busy & had to leave a message. The wait for the call back seemed like forever! We were so nervous & didn’t know 100% if it was our referral or not. When finally got a call back & it was our referral phone call!! Our social worker wouldn’t give us any information other than we had a referral & needed to make an appointment with our home study agency to review the file. We called right away to make hat appointment & were very thankful to only have to wait until the next day. I don’t think we slept at all that night because we were so excited!

We wanted to celebrate a little, so we went out to eat & then had ice cream. We spent time together as a family. 🙂 Prior to going out to celebrate we had our home study update for our second adoption. We were hoping we wouldn’t have to do an update because that meant our home study was expiring, meaning we’ve waited a long time. We are hopeful this will be our last update for this adoption!
