More birthday fun!

We had a lot of fun on Samuel’s birthday. We went to Marbles museum since we have a membership there that was given to us as a Christmas present (Thanks Mimi & Pop-pop!). My brother & his girls met us there for a few hours of fun! After the Marbles fun we came home for a nap & then daddy got home in time to celebrate before we went to church. πŸ™‚

We celebrated Samuel’s 4th birthday with family at our house on the 22nd of February. He has been so excited to turn 4 for months!! He couldn’t wait. We are so thankful to all of our family that came to celebrate with us. We love you all! Thank you for joining us in celebrating our special boy & what he means to us. I cannot believe that he is 4 years old! Where does the time go?

Samuel, mommy & daddy love you so much! You are our joy! We are so thankful that God gave us you. You are so smart, caring, loving, & fun. πŸ™‚ We pray that God would bless you & watch over you. We also pray that you would come to know Him at an early age & spend your life serving Him. We are forever grateful to your birth mother for choosing life for you & being so brave! We will always have so much respect for her. We will also be thankful for your foster family that took care of you & loved you until we could. We cannot wait until you are a big brother! You will be the best big brother ever!

The New Year!!!

We celebrated bringing in the New Year of 2014 by being together. My little sister Mary came over & we had a lot of fun playing games & being silly. Samuel wasn’t able to hang to see the acorn & NYC ball drop, but the rest of us celebrated with sparkling grape juice & I did get a kiss from my honey! πŸ™‚ Mary almost missed ringing in the New Year. She fell asleep right before & I woke her up (by accident) telling her to get her grape juice. Being with family is the best way to bring in a New Year!

We had so much fun this year! I think this was the most exciting year with Samuel so far. This is a long post with a lot of pictures. We were really busy this year, but enjoyed our time with friends, church family, & family. It was great to see everyone & spend a little time with them.

The celebrations started off with Samuel’s preschool play. He was Joseph for one part. He did great! πŸ˜‰ Joseph was a little distracted by his headdress though. Haha! It was adorable to see all the little ones singing together & even playing instruments on one song.

Ready for preschool!

Here’s his fan club.

The cutest little Joseph!

Then we went to lunch & Marbles museum with Emma, Mimi, & Pop-pop!

The first Friday in December we went with our friends Amy & Mitchell to a Christmas concert. It was awesome! It was Newsong’s A Very Merry Christmas tour. Loved it! Definitely want to go again next year. They had Newsong, Sidewalk Prophets, Audio Adrenaline, Love & The Outcome, & Jason Castro. I may have missed one, but I think that was all of them. It really got us into the Christmas spirit! I can’t believe we didn’t get a picture with Amy & Mitchell!

We of course had to look at Christmas lights! We went to Piper Lights that is local & they had a wonderful drive-thru with a small store that had hot chocolate, coffee, & candy. They also had a small train ride that took you back through the lights. We took our niece Makayla with us. It was cold, but we had a blast!

We continued our tradition of the Jesse Tree this year. It starts around Thanksgiving leading up the Jesus’ birthday. Samuel definitely understood more this year & was asking a few questions. We pray as parents that God will guide us to know how to teach & lead Samuel’s heart. Our prayer is for him to come to know Christ one day also & be used mightily for the Lord.

Our 2013 family Christmas ornament:

I found this Korean nativity & knew we had to have it! Isn’t it beautiful?! There are more pieces, but for now we got the basic set.

Samuel also loved playing with this nativity paper set & book that we found.

We enjoyed a Christmas party with our Sunday School class at the beginning of December. Lots of fun & laughs together!

Ending Samuel’s preschool year they had a Christmas party! These little ones are a lot of fun! We had a Happy birthday Jesus party!

002 015

Samuel’s cousin Rebecca is in his class. They love Mrs. Madison!

We had some fun with a few Christmas crafts. The gingerbread house is in the back. I couldn’t find my other pictures for that. We also painted with snow paint. It dried puffy like snow!

The first family gathering was with the Bakers. We haven’t been able to attend the last couple of years so it was nice to see extended family & enjoy time with them. Especially my Nanny.

004 007 008 009

Then the following weekend we had the Ladd family Christmas. We don’t get to see all of these families enough during the year! James & Samuel had the most fun playing with a card board box. Samuel’s favorite gift was of course the BIG 18-wheeler he got from Grandma Ladd. πŸ™‚

We had another Christmas party later that night with the Price family. Lots of fun seeing them & the kids enjoyed playing with each other again.

Happy birthday Jesus!

I love to bake, but couldn’t find time this year to do much. I did have to make time for sugar cookies with my boy!

We had a wonderful time seeing family that we don’t get to see nearly enough! We love you all & hope you all had a great Christmas too! I’ll be posting a separate post for Christmas Eve & Christmas Day. Lots of fun!

The weekend of November 15th-17th, Nanny & Pappy were taking the camper out one last time for this year. They asked us if we would like to go & of course we did! They were going camping at Jellystone. πŸ™‚ Samuel’s favorite. Cousin Makayla went camping too & they had a blast together! It was a very low-key weekend & we really enjoyed spending time with them & being able to slow down & not be so busy. We got there Friday morning & Samuel & Makayla rode bikes while Bill & Pappy set up the camper. We also enjoyed the playground. During the fall they don’t schedule a lot of activities so we drove around the camp site, the little ones rode bikes, & played on the playground a lot. It started raining that evening so we decided to out to eat & save our camp fire for Saturday night. After dinner the adult attempted to play Phase 10. However, if you’ve ever tried to play that with kids around, you know it doesn’t last long. πŸ˜‰

Saturday was a lot of fun too! We went on a hiking trail. I ran into a spider web with a giant spider in it & almost had a heart attack! Bill was laughing at me, but it scared me! I hate spiders!!!! They rode bikes some more & then we had lunch. We waited around for the jumping pillow to open & to see Boo Boo. Samuel & Makayla kept asking when they were going to see Yogi. They were excited to get to see Boo Boo. There were no Yogi sightings though. After visiting with Boo Boo we started our campfire & Bill cooked hamburgers & hot dogs, while Nanny cooked fries. We had excellent cooks! Then we roasted marshmallows & sat by the campfire for a little while.

Sunday morning we packed up & headed back home. Thank you so much Nanny & Pappy for such a fun time & for inviting us. We always treasure our time with any of our family.
