Super huge update

Such blog neglect happening this year! I need to do a better job to document everything so I can turn my blog into a kind of family yearbook. We’ve been a little busy. 🙂 We are finally a family of four & are loving it. Lily is a wonderful addition to our family & she fits right in. Since I’m so far behind, I’m going to just post pictures of what’s been happening the last several months.

So, these were just the highlights. Of course a lot more went on, but because I didn’t blog it, I don’t remember all the details. Hoping to do better from now on since we are settled as a family of four. However next week I start back to work! 😦  That’s gonna throw a curve ball & will take some getting used to too.

We are #3 now on our agency’s wait list. Pray with us that our baby boy or girl comes home soon. Also, take a look & see if you are able to help us out any with our grant.

Our adoption from Japan

Update on our grant: We have now received $1,100 towards our grant!! We only have $1,400 more to go before we reach our goal. We are blessed!!! An anonymous donor gave $1,000 towards our grant. I wish that I could thank whomever it is. We are truly so thankful. Thank you for your generosity & kindness! You are helping bring a child to their forever family. ❤ We are so thankful to everyone that has given to any or all of our fundraisers. Our goal date for this grant is February 15. Can you help us out?! That is right around the corner. Please consider donating $5, $10, or whatever the Lord would have you give.

Here are the ways you can give:

  • Checks should be payable to “Lifesong for Orphans. In the memo, note “Perry/#4024” to assure it goes to the correct account. Please mail to Lifesong for Orphans…

It’s so hard to believe it’s been 3 years since this sweet face…

We had a laid back day today. We had Samuel’s soccer game this morning & then had brunch with Mimi & Pop-pop. 🙂  We celebrated with cupcakes! Then we all had a nap. We were planning to go to a local pumpkin farm, but it has been so wet around here & I wasn’t feeling well. So, we hope to go another day soon. Then tonight we celebrated our niece Kristina’s 11th birthday! I’ll post more on that later.

Here’s our cupcakes…

This face

3 years ago we saw this sweet face for the first time:

sam samuel

We were told not to fall in love immediately & that we needed to have his file reviewed by a doctor before making a decision. We did have his file reviewed, but in our hearts we knew that this was our son. No matter what we have done whatever it took to get him home & would have cared for whatever needs we faced. He’s perfect. He’s our son!

Meeting a friend

On June 14th we were able to go meet a blogger/facebook friend in real life!!! We have known each other for a few years through our blogs & adoption stories, but had never been able to meet in real life as we lived too far away. My friend Christy & her kids were on a cross-country trip! They happened to be coming through our state. It wasn’t too far of a drive for us, so we headed out to meet them. We were able to play at the park & have lunch together. Christy & her children are so sweet! I’m so glad that we were able to finally meet each other & get to chat together even if it was only for a couple of hours. The kids had a blast playing at the park & meeting each other too. Thank you Christy for taking time out of your travels to meet with us! It was such a blessing & I’m so glad to have finally met you in real life. Please let me know if you ever come this way again!!!

COC!

On May 8th we had an appointment at USCIS to finally receive Samuel’s Certificate of Citizenship. This was the very last & final piece of paper that we needed to complete all of his paperwork. We could have applied for this earlier, but put it off for financial reasons. We had to pay money for a piece of paper that stated he was a citizen. The funny thing is, it states he became a citizen on 7-26-11. That’s 9 months after he came home. The day his adoption was finalized. So, he’s technically been a citizen since his adoption was finalized, but we had to pay money to get the piece of paper that said he was a citizen! 🙂

Since we have been waiting over a year for our Japan adoption, our fingerprints were due to expire in June. So, we decided we would try to get our fingerprints retaken & pick up Samuel’s COC the same day. Thankfully we were able to do just that! We went a little early & had our fingerprints retaken, then picked up Samuel’s COC. I’m so glad we didn’t have to wait through the ceremony. While it would have been cool to see it & go through it, it also would have been torture for Samuel. He was acting crazy & was just done. They don’t play & are very serious at USCIS! We of course had to get some photos! I had to ask permission first & we had to wait a few minutes for the guard to get authorization. They let us take some pictures thankfully! 🙂

After we left USCIS we went to Cinnabon for a special treat. Actually last week was nurses week & they were giving free cinnabons to nurses. 🙂 So, we enjoyed my free cinnabon as a treat for his COC. We did go to dinner later that night to celebrate too. They were both yummy treats & we enjoyed celebrating our sweet boy!
