My hubby & I are reading the book “Radical” by David Platt together. We aren’t very far in the book yet, but I saw something one of my blogger friends posted. It was a quote by David Platt & it is from the book we are reading. So I searched through the book & found what I was looking for. I decided I’d like to share this with you guys. It reminds me of my time in Belarus. Last year I went on a mission trip to Belarus & visited orphanages with children of different ages. It was a very eye opening experience & hard to put into words. That trip is what spurred our moving forward with our adoption. This excerpt speaks for itself. I encourage everyone to read this book.

“…All at once the numbers became real…and personal.

We learned that orphans are easier to ignore before you know their names. They are easier to ignore before you see their faces. It is easier to pretend they’re not real before you hold them in your arms. But once you do, everything changes.
So when you and I hear staggering numbers and statistics about the poor and needy around us and around the world, we have a choice. We can switch the channels on our mega-TVs and continue our comfortable, untroubled, ordinary, churchgoing lives as if the global poor don’t exist. We can let these numbers remain cold, distant, and almost imaginary. Or we can open our eyes and our lives to the realities that surround us and begin considering the faces that are represented by these numbers.

…These are the faces I see when I envision twenty-six thousand children dying today of starvation or preventable diseases.

As I see their faces, I realize that I have a choice. You and I both have a choice.”
(Radical, by David Platt, pg. 139-140)

The other side

I can’t wait until one day I am on the other side of our adoption! To have my baby & see a smiling face. Please read my friend’s Andrea’s post here. It’s long, but SO worth the read! It gives me hope. One day maybe we will be there.

So I told you in the previous post that we are having a 3 on 3 basketball tournament as a fundraiser for our adoption. Well, we wanted to have trophies to give to the winner & runner up. So yesterday morning I called 2 different places & both were closed until 11:00. I called back a little after 11:00 to the first place, Victory Trophies & Gifts in Wake Forest, NC. I told the lady I needed prices on 2 small trophies & told her what they were for. She said that she would donate them for us! Wow! God keeps blessing us time & time again. She engraved them & all! I picked them up today. I know that trophies probably aren’t too expensive, but this is one less thing we have to pay out of pocket & can make mostly profit! I am so thankful for how God keeps showing His hand in our adoption & blesses us when we least expect it!
Here’s a pic of the trophies!

Next fundraiser

So our next fundraiser is going to be a 3 on 3 basketball tournament! It starts on Sat., Aug. 7, @ 9am. It’s $40 per team(of 4 people) & then we are going to have concessions available too. We have lots of people that are helping & donating things, but only 4 teams that we know of so far. If any of you live around Louisburg/Wakeforest, NC & would like to help us out, email me @ awaitingourmiracle@gmail.com! Also, if you know people that live around that area & would like me to email you our flyer to send to them…I’d be happy too! Just let me know! 🙂

Family & friends, please pray for this as we are preparing. Pray for more teams! Most importantly though, please pray for any lost souls that may be there. We are going to have a devotion mid-way through & I pray that if there is anyone there that doesn’t know Jesus as their personal Savior that they would come to know Him right then & there! Bill & I also hope that we can encourage others to “say yes” to adoption. It looks & seems overwhelming & one of the top reasons people don’t adopt is because they don’t think they can afford it. Well, where God takes you He WILL provide. So, please pray for open hearts. That all would open their ears & listen to whatever He is calling them to. Whether that be salvation, adoption, or wherever else He may lead them.

Happy Sunday!

4 months

Today marks 4 months that our home study has been in Korea! Hopefully this means a referral is coming soon! I know we could wait another 2 months or so, but we’re hoping we are on the faster end of referrals. 🙂 One can dream I guess. I will serve HIM while I’m waiting!

I am SO happy & excited for my friends Heather & Kala that are going to Korea. Both will be there next week & will get their baby boys FOREVER! I’m so happy for you girls & can’t wait to see a picture of you with your baby in your arms!

Psalm 37:4-5 “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.”

Me too!

I’m an expecting momma too…just not the way other’s are visibly. I know it’s crazy, but sometimes things people say hurt. I know they don’t mean to hurt my feelings, but why aren’t we all more sensitive with our words (me included)? Some of our family & friends don’t even think of me as “expecting” & say things in front of me that hurt sometimes. I know…most people are not educated on adoption & don’t realize what they are saying. So, it’s really not their fault.
I’m thankful for a God who cares & knows. He’s sensitive to how I feel & He knows the BIG picture. When I get my feelings hurt I just need to take a step back & realize that this journey isn’t about me or us. It’s about glorifying Him & bringing honor to His name.

I hope our experience opens our family & friend’s eyes to the journey of adoption! I pray God uses us to glorify Him & to help some other little ones find a forever mommy & daddy.
It’s all for a good cause. Because one day……….I’ll have my baby & the pain will be worth it all. There will be joy!

Here’s the words to a song I heard this morning. They really touched me & are very pertinent to our life right now.

Before the Morning by Josh Wilson
Do you wonder why you have to, feel the things that hurt you,
If there’s a God who loves you, where is He now?
Maybe, there are things you can’t see,
And all those things are happening, to bring a better ending some day,
Some how, you’ll see, you’ll see
Would dare you, would you dare, to believe,
That you still have a reason to sing,’cause the pain you’ve been feeling,
Can’t compare to the joy that’s coming
So hold on, you got to wait for the light
Press on, just fight the good fight
Because the pain you’ve been feeling, it’s just the dark before the morning
My friend, you know how this all ends
And you know where you’re going,
You just don’t know how you get there so, just say a prayer and hold on,
Cause there’s good who love God, life is not a snapshot,
It might take a little time, but you’ll see the bigger picture
Would dare you, would you dare, to believe,
That you still have a reason to sing, ’cause the pain you’ve been feeling,
Can’t compare to the joy that’s coming
So hold on, you got to wait for the light
Press on, just fight the good fight
Because the pain you’ve been feeling, it’s just the dark before the morning

Another yardsale

My mom & her friend Teresa had another yard sale for us today! So, we loaded some things up last night, both of our cars this morning & off we went! It was a great day! We raised about $210! Yippee!!!! Another great thing was we had it at a mini “flea market” type thing. There was just us & one other guy. The other guy gave us $25 for what we had left. He got a steal! However we were gonna load it all up & take it to Goodwill since we are done with the yardsales for a little while. So, he saved us from having to load it all up & unload again…& he saved us time. Thankful for that! I think we are done with the yard sales. If we have anymore they’ll be in the fall & I’m sure we will accumulate more stuff or can get more donations at that time. The stuff left hadn’t sold at any of the other yard sales anyway. This makes #4 of the yardsales I believe. They are a lot of work, but we are willing to do anything to get our baby here in our arms! 🙂

Thank you momma, Gennie, Mary, Teresa, Dalton, Daniel, Anna, Danny, Joy, & my hubby Bill for all the hard work today. Thank you to the ladies Bible study, our small group, & family for praying for us today. Many thanks to all who donated items! We are extremely thankful for all of the blessings we have been receiving! God bless you all!
